Hi all,

My husband and I have decided to separate but we are still living in the same house for now. I earn a bit more than him and have been covering most of the bills, but I’m worried about how things will be divided once we start the divorce.

We have two kids and I pay for things like clubs and clothes for them. Should I try to track all of this in a separate account? I also want to make sure my savings and pension are protected.

I’m not sure what to do about the house. He has said he wants to sell soon, but I feel the kids still need stability. Would a simple agreement about contributions and the house help, or do I need a solicitor straight away?

Has anyone been through something similar? How did you manage finances and the house while still living together during separation?

Thanks.
