Split Happens: digital support for young people when parents separate
Split Happens is a free digital platform designed for young people aged 13 to 30 whose parents are separating or have separated. Built with real stories from young people and expert advice, it offers a safe space to understand what's happening and how to navigate it.
The platform features Yuni, a guided chatbot that gives reliable, supportive answers to questions about family change – drawing only from expert-approved content, not the whole internet. Whether you're wondering how to talk to your parents, manage time between homes or deal with difficult feelings, Split Happens is here to help.
Created by amicable in partnership with Your Direction (part of separation support charity Restored Lives), Split Happens is built with safeguarding at its core and is regularly reviewed by mental health and relationship experts.
Visit Split HappensAdult children of divorce share their experiences
Our film gives the children of divorce a voice. They share how divorce has impacted them throughout their lives and the advice they wish their parents had received.
As part of our 'friends and family' campaign, we released this film to shine a light on the lasting effects of parental separation. Divorce is a journey that impacts not just couples, but all their loved ones – especially their children.
At amicable, we believe that while sometimes sad, divorce doesn't have to be bad. We offer a kinder, better way to navigate this significant life change – one that reduces conflict and prioritises your children’s wellbeing.
