my ex-wife and I are starting the divorce process and as I have been the major income earner for 40 years and my ex has generally had part time jobs after giving up her career to look after the children, we need a starting point as to what spousal maintanence should like like. we are aged 57 & 58. Can we arrange a joint session with a solicitor or Amiciable to advise up both?, would a mediator be able to guide to to what decision a judge is likely to make to so we aim for this rather than or our self-serving desires. We want to agree on the finances for our independent futures, but neither of us know what would be considered reasonable and fair - who can guide us?
