My wife and I are planning to divorce after 14 years together. We have three dependent children. My mother left me her house before she passed away, this was before I got married. This is not our primary home, does my wife have any claim to it?

Thanks for your message. The simple answer to this is yes, potentially. As you're married, your finances are seen as a combined pot. When you separate you'll need to figure out how you untie and split your finances. The starting point when you begin discussing how the finances will be separated is dividing your assets and debts 50/50 - however, from this point that split can change based on lots of different variables.
