Hi,
My wife and I are at the finances stage. She doesn't want to move on and is dragging out the process and making it hard on everyone. She has contacted 2-3 lawyers at this point. What can I do so that she accepts the situation? If it doesn't change and she still doesn't want to move on anything, how long until I contact a lawyer myself?
Thanks
M

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your questions.
Sorting the financial side of your separation can be an overwhelming process for separating couples. The first thing we recommend is reaching out and seeing if you can sort it between yourselves and not through lawyers. If that doesn’t work, you could consider mediation or negotiation. We have a blog explaining the difference here.
If you can’t reach an agreement through a non-court dispute resolution method, you can hire an arbitrator to decide for you or as a last resort, go through court proceedings and ask a judge to make an order.
