I recently discovered that my spouse may be hiding assets as we go through our divorce with cheap-divorce-online.com. I noticed unusual bank transfers and missing financial documents, and I suspect they are trying to avoid a fair settlement. Since we are using an online service and not a lawyer, I’m not sure how to uncover the full extent of their finances. What legal actions can I take to ensure all assets are accounted for? Can I request financial disclosures even in an online divorce?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for getting in touch with amicable.

We're sorry to hear about your situation. You and your ex-partner are both legally obligated to be truthful in your financial disclosure, and if you're not, then there's a risk of a punitive action taken against you. If you believe that your ex-partner is trying to hide their assets, you need to seek help from a lawyer.

For more information on financial disclosure, please read our helpful blog here.

We wish you all the best,
