Hi, I’m looking for advice on how to word the cohabitation clause in my dissolution agreement. I can not afford to lose my spousal support but I want to be able to have a boyfriend that spends a few nights a week over at my house with us not financially supporting each other. How should that clause written?

Hi Carol,

Thanks for your question.

Relationship and cohabitation status can impact a spousal maintenance arrangement. However, it's important to remember that any changes made should take into account your current circumstances and needs. For help discussing a change in arrangement, we offer one-hour joint advice consultations. These cost £210 and can be used to help you discuss this issue with your ex-partner. Book your session here. We also have this blog has more information on spousal maintenance.

I would recommend booking a free 15-minute call with one of our Divorce Specialists to understand your options.

Best wishes, Oscar from amicable
