Context: we have 2 girls who are primary school age. Co-parenting is semi-structured but can change because I travel for work. I appreciate my ex-wife is flexible with this, but it then makes child maintenance payments flexible because the number of overnight stays can change per month.

How should these calculations be made, or how are others making this calculation?

**My view**
Calculation is based on number of overnight stays per week. For October, there are 31 days, therefore the calculation is *(number of days per month / 7 days in a week) / number of overnight stays*

**My ex-wife's view**
There are 5 weeks in October: *5 / number of overnight stays*

It is an important distinction because the difference in child maintenance payment isn't a small amount of money. I already contribute more on top of this (clubs, school trips etc) so this is a question of what is right and wrong (to me anyway)

We are struggling to agree, so wondering how others might approach this. To me, the concept of 5 weeks in October is plain wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
