Guided Negotiation Service

During your divorce, you and your ex-partner must agree how to divide your finances – property, pensions, debt – and set up any maintenance payments. To make this legally binding and prevent future claims, you'll need a consent order.

Our Guided Negotiation Service is for couples who’ve agreed on key financial matters but need support finalising the rest. It’s for those with simple assets – no more than two properties, no business, no assets abroad and less than £2M in total assets.

For more complex financial or emotional situations, or if you're starting from scratch, use our Complete Negotiation Service instead

For parents, we also offer an extra Separating with Children Service to support your co-parenting journey.

FAQs

Who is amicable?

We’re the trusted legal service for separating couples. Our specialists help couples divorce, reach a fair financial agreement and decide arrangements for children without using separate solicitors.

How is amicable different to using solicitors and mediation?

Unlike traditional solicitors, we take a unique approach by working with both partners. We offer fixed, transparent fees that include VAT and provide flexible payment plans, allowing couples to spread costs over several months. Unlike mediation, we support couples in reaching agreements, as well as preparing all the legal documents and managing the court process. Our specialists are trained in helping couples navigate the legal and emotional journey of divorce and separation.

How long does it take?

Divorce takes a minimum of eight months to complete, with services which include a consent order taking longer.

Who are the specialists?

You can learn more about our team and their professional backgrounds, which include a mixture of family law, mediation and psychology, here.

What happens if we can’t reach an agreement?

amicable has a 95% success rate for helping couples reach a financial agreement through our Negotiation Services. If a couple are unable to reach an agreement, they may choose to try arbitration, involve solicitors or go through court proceedings. The cost of these options varies, find out more here.
