Navigating ‘Co-parenting New Year’ 2024
With the children returning to school, it's a perfect time for a fresh start.
At amicable, we call it the Co-parenting New Year . Whether you're newly separated or a seasoned co-parent, September offers a chance to set new resolutions for a successful year ahead.
In this blog, we look at some things to consider:
For separated parents:
1. Arguing over who buys the school uniform?
We get it. Seemingly small things can create tension and conflict. If you would like to review your parenting arrangements, like who pays for what and when, take advantage of our service. Book a 90-minute consultation with an amicable specialist to help you agree and plan for the year ahead.
2. Time for a new drop-off and pick-up schedule?
It's okay to review existing agreements. Children change, and so do your circumstances. Different ages and stages will mean that existing routines need updating. Another factor can be the introduction of new partners and blended families. Embrace the opportunity to update your arrangements to adapt to change.
3. Have you included maintenance in your consent order?
If you have a family-based maintenance arrangement, you can still document this in your consent order with your other financial agreements, and it can be reviewed if circumstances change. This differs from getting a child arrangements order, as it's only focused on maintenance, not your other children's arrangements. Speak to our friendly team of specialists to check if you might benefit from including your maintenance in a consent order.
Thinking about separating or newly separated:
