What your agreement covers
Your agreement covers your whole financial picture, not just the part that prompted it.
How it works
Book a free 15-minute consultation
Tell us about your situation. Your Specialist will help you work out whether the Assisted Prenup Service is right for you both. There's no obligation to move forwards.
Sign up and invite your partner
One of you signs up and invites the other. You each get your own dashboard, so you can both see where things are up to.
Complete your financial disclosure
You both share the details of your finances through your dashboard. It's straightforward and guides you through each step, so you each have an honest picture of what the other brings.
Review what you've agreed with your Specialist
You record what you've agreed in your dashboard. Your Specialist reviews it with both of you, checks nothing's missing and confirms you're both happy before we draft anything.
We draft it, you each get your own independent legal advice, then you sign
Your agreement is drafted for you and explained in plain English. A lawyer from our panel then gives each of you your own independent legal advice, and your deed is drafted, ready for you both to sign in front of a witness, in good time before the wedding.

FAQs
Do you work with couples in Scotland or Northern Ireland?
Our service is for couples in England and Wales. The law on nuptial agreements is different in Scotland and Northern Ireland, so we are not able to help there at the moment.
Will our agreement actually hold up?
A nuptial agreement isn't automatically binding in England and Wales. However, you should expect the court to hold you to an agreement that is fair and properly made: you both shared your finances honestly, you each had your own independent legal advice, nobody felt pressured, and it was signed in good time before the wedding. Our whole process has been built to meet that standard.
What's the difference between the Assisted and Guided services?
The Assisted service is for couples who've already agreed everything. The Guided service is for couples who'd like help working out the details first, with Specialist-led sessions to work through it together. If you're not sure which fits, a free consultation is a good place to start.
We've agreed the main thing. Do we have to cover everything else too?
Yes, and it's the thing couples are most often surprised by. An agreement that only deals with one asset, like an inheritance or a business, leaves everything else undecided, which is exactly what a court would then have to work out. Your agreement needs to cover your whole financial picture to do its job.
What's not included?
Tax or financial planning advice, though we can point you to the right people. Wills and estate planning, though we can signpost you to our partners at Octopus Legacy.
Do we each get our own independent legal advice?
Yes, and it's included in your price for both of you. You each get your own advice meeting with a different lawyer from our panel, so you both understand the agreement fully before you sign. Your deed and the witnessed signing are handled for you too, so there's nothing left for you to arrange.
What if we need more help than this?
You can upgrade to Guided support at any point for £1,360, for hands-on help from your Specialist to work through the detail before we draft anything.
What if things change once we're married?
Agreements don't expire, but they should be reviewed when life changes: a new business, a new baby, a move, a big change in income.
What's the difference between a prenup and a postnup?
They're the same kind of agreement, the only difference is timing. A prenup is made before the wedding, a postnup after.
Does this mean we're planning for things to go wrong?
Not at all. Making an agreement together is a way of deciding what feels fair between you, while you are calm and on the same page. Plenty of couples find the conversation brings them closer, because it puts everything out in the open and settles a question that might otherwise sit quietly in the background.
How long before the wedding do we need to start?
Start at least three months before, the earlier the better so you're not rushing before the big day. An agreement should be signed more than 28 days before the ceremony, so we work back from your date. If time is too tight, we can draft it as a postnup instead and sign after the wedding, at no extra cost.
Do you work with civil partners too?
Yes, and it's the same service at the same price. If you're planning to register your civil partnership, the agreement is made beforehand, like a prenup. If you're already civil partners, it's made afterwards, like a postnup. The only difference is the wording of the document itself. Let us know when you get started and we'll make sure it's drafted the right way for you.
Is amicable a law firm?
No. amicable is a legal services company, not a traditional or adversarial law firm, and that's the point. We work with both of you together to ensure you have an agreement that you both understand and meets your expectations. To ensure you each understand your individual position, we partner with a panel of trusted family lawyers. Each of you will be assigned a different lawyer from our panel, who will provide you with independent legal advice on your agreement, included as part of your fixed fee.
