Guided Negotiation Service

During your divorce, you and your ex-partner must agree how to divide your finances – property, pensions, debt – and set up any maintenance payments. To make this legally binding and prevent future claims, you'll need a consent order.

Our Guided Negotiation Service is for couples who’ve agreed on key financial matters but need support finalising the rest. It’s for those with simple assets – no more than two properties, no business, no assets abroad and less than £2M in total assets.

For more complex financial or emotional situations, or if you're starting from scratch, use our Complete Negotiation Service instead

For parents, we also offer an extra Separating with Children Service to support your co-parenting journey.

18 years married | £550k property equity | £200k pensions | 1 child

After eighteen years of marriage, Simone and Alex had already worked out much of their financial split. They agreed to sell the family home, with £550,000 in equity to be divided equally. They planned to keep their own pensions — Simone's was worth about £120,000 and Alex's around £80,000. Simone earns significantly more than Alex.

But there was still a sticking point: they couldn’t agree on how much maintenance Simone would pay to Alex, who would be primarily looking after their 13-year-old son.

They chose amicable’s Guided Negotiation Service to finalise the details. With support from their Divorce Specialist, they kept the process focused and respectful. In just a few sessions, they agreed on a child maintenance figure that both were happy with, and that the court approved. For a couple who'd already made progress, this targeted expert support helped them avoid delays and stay out of court

5 years married | £95k property equity | £12k savings | No children

Jamie and Priya were five years into their marriage when they decided to separate. They had no children and had bought a modest flat together, with around £95,000 of equity. Jamie wanted to sell this and start afresh, but Priya wanted to stay living in the flat for the time being, to avoid any more upheaval. They also had about £12,000 in savings, which they had already agreed to split.

With most of their finances already agreed, they chose amicable's Guided Negotiation Service to resolve their remaining issue.

Their Divorce Specialist helped them navigate the sticking point that had been holding things up. With expertise in the legal system and in exploring practical solutions, they were able to keep conversations constructive and moving forwards. Jamie and Priya reached a balanced agreement that worked for them both and had it made legally binding through a consent order - all for a fixed fee and without the need for separate solicitors.
