amicable doesn't offer a service to help you divorce if you don't know where your ex is but our advice below will help you if you're not sure where to start.

To file for divorce or end your civil partnership you will need to provide an address for your ex so they are aware that you want to legally separate from them. Use our checklist to ensure that you have tried every avenue to contact them:

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Where they work or their last employer
  • Online; do you have an email for them or can contact them via social media to ask for their address?

The divorce/separation process will be quicker if you can contact them to send them the divorce papers to sign.

If you cannot find them you will need to do through a legal process called 'Dispense with service'. Click here for more information on this.
