The conversation you've been meaning to have. Written down, agreed and signed.
For couples living together – moving in, settling in or somewhere in between
Most couples sort the practical side of moving in together and leave the financial conversations for later. A cohabitation agreement gives you a structure for those conversations – and turns what you've agreed into a legal document.
It's about both of you knowing where you stand.
One document. Drafted by a Specialist. Signed by both of you.

Why couples actually do this

Most couples who get a cohabitation agreement do it because they want both of them to feel clear, equal and recognised in the relationship they're building.
'Making plans together is part of the relationship.'
A cohabitation agreement is how you turn what you've agreed – about money, about the home, about what feels fair – into something written down and signed by both of you.

What is a cohabitation agreement?
A legal document that records what you've agreed about your finances and shared life. Courts in England and Wales treat it as a contract, giving weight to agreements entered into freely where both people understood what they were signing.
Why would we need one if we're happy with how things are?
A cohabitation agreement is about writing down what you've informally agreed, so there's no ambiguity later. Circumstances change – incomes shift, one of you might take time out of work, you might buy a property together or start a renovation. Having it written down means your arrangement keeps up with your actual life.
We've already talked it through. Do we need to go over it again?
No. This service is designed for couples who have already agreed the shape of their finances. You fill in your financial information through your dashboard and join a 30-minute session with a Specialist to review the agreement together. If you haven't quite sorted everything yet, our Living Together Planning Session is a separate 60-minute joint session that helps you get there first.
What does it cover?
Most couples include: how the deposit was split and where it came from; how bills, mortgage payments and savings are divided; what happens if one of you carries out significant renovation work; and anything else that matters to you both.
I've been through a separation before. Will this feel like going over old ground?
The process is focused on your current situation and what you're building together. The financial disclosure and the review session are both practical – not a legal debrief. Most people find it more manageable than they expected.
Do both of us need to be involved?
Yes – this is a joint service. You'll both complete the financial disclosure and join the review session together, and have your finished agreement to sign at the end.
What if we need help agreeing first?
Our Living Together Planning Session is a separate 60-minute joint session that helps you get there first. Add it at checkout or book it directly.
Can we use this if we live in Scotland or Northern Ireland?
Our service is only available to couples in England and Wales – the law works differently in Scotland and Northern Ireland, so this service wouldn't be the right fit for you. If you're based outside England and Wales, we'd recommend finding a family law solicitor in your area who can help.
